Wow! Can you believe it? It's JULY!!!
Summer is well underway. For many, this means vacations, swimming, trips to the beach, etc. For almost 300 children in Athens, it brings up the question - "What's for lunch?" These children live in low-income neighborhoods in Athens and depend upon school lunches for their primary meal source during the school year. When the summer months roll around, every day makes them wonder where their next meal will come from.
Willa Johnson of Feeding Kids Right, Inc. has done her very best to be able to provide regular, daily lunches FREE OF CHARGE to these children to make certain that they are fed at least one healthy meal per day. Johnson, owner of The Soul Kitchen Take-Out Kitchen, delivers between 250-300 meals EVERY week day in Athens. She relies upon the generosity of others in order to purchase meal ingredients, prepare the food, and make the deliveries throughout town. Known as The Food Lady, Willa's van is recognized and welcomed by children similar to the ice cream trucks of old.
In order to be able to continue this service until the end of summer vacation, Feeding Kids Right, Inc. (a 501.c.3) desperately needs YOUR help! It costs $750/day (just $3/meal) to provide hot meals to local children. Without donations, the program will fall short. Fourteen individuals/businesses are needed to each donate $750 to help the program reach the end of summer. Volunteers are also needed to help with deliveries. Won't you PLEASE consider helping?
