ATHENS SOUP KITCHEN

This faith-based organization operates with one goal in mind – to make certain no one in Athens goes to bed hungry. Approximately ten local churches provide the ingredients and staff to enable the Soup Kitchen to open twice weekly. Guests are invited to enjoy two choices of soup, two sandwich selections, cornbread, dessert, and a drink – all completely free of cost. All guests are served and no one is turned away based on their financial need or lack thereof.  

Each Tuesday and Thursday, the Kitchen feeds approximately 200-250 individuals between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with food preparation, cooking, greeting guests, serving, bussing tables, and clean-up.
